How to Make a Christmas Card From Your Pet’s Portrait (Print-Ready 5×7)
Once your pet’s portrait is unlocked, a Winter card button turns it into a 5×7 holiday card file you can print or send. Here is exactly what you get and how to use it.
On PetMona, an unlocked pet portrait can be turned into a Christmas card for no extra charge: open “Add a dedication” on the portrait page and choose “Winter card” under Seasonal cards. You get a 5×7-inch PNG at 1500×2100 pixels (300 pixels per inch) with a deep green and gold border and a “Happy holidays” caption. The button appears from November 1 to December 31; PetMona does not print or mail the cards.
If your pet is going to be the star of this year’s holiday card anyway, you do not need a design app to get there. Every unlocked PetMona portrait can be turned into a ready-to-print 5×7 Christmas card with one button. This guide covers what the card actually looks like, when the button appears, and how to get it printed or sent.
What the Winter card looks like
- A 5×7-inch portrait-orientation card, exported as a PNG at 1500×2100 pixels — 300 pixels per inch at that size
- A deep green background with a double border in gold and soft cream, and small gold dots in the four corners
- Your pet’s portrait centered inside the border, cropped to fit the card’s proportions
- A short caption strip at the bottom that reads “Happy holidays”
The card is drawn in your browser from the HD portrait you already unlocked, so there is no new image generation and no waiting. If your browser cannot export it, the page tells you so, and Download HD still gives you the full portrait.
When the button appears
Seasonal cards are tied to the calendar. The Winter card is available from November 1 to December 31; in January and February it is replaced by a Valentine card with a rose border and a “With love” caption. Outside those months the Seasonal cards row is hidden. The button lives on the unlocked portrait page, inside the “Add a dedication” section.
Pick a style that works at card size
A 5×7 card is small, so a portrait with a clear face and simple background reads best. PetMona has three Christmas styles built for this time of year:
- Christmas — fireplace glow, a festive sweater and holiday warmth
- Christmas Fireside Portrait — oil-pastel warmth, chalk texture and a softly glowing hearth
- Snowy Christmas Storybook — a layered paper-cut snow village with quiet storybook charm
Any other style works too. Because the card crops the portrait to 5:7, a pet that sits in the middle of the picture with some space around it survives the crop better than a face pressed against the edge.
About the caption
Without a dedication, the caption reads “Happy holidays”. If you have typed a dedication line, that line is painted on the portrait and also used as the card’s caption (up to 48 characters), so it appears twice. For a clean card, leave the dedication empty and write your message inside the card or on the back instead.
Printing it
| Option | What to do | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Photo lab or online card printer | Upload the PNG as a 5×7 flat card | Check the printer’s trim preview; the border sits about a third of an inch in from the edge, so a small trim will not cut into it |
| Home printer | Print at 5×7 on matte card stock, then trim | Turn off “fit to page” scaling so the 300-pixels-per-inch size is kept |
| Digital card | Send the PNG by message or email | Or unlock the portrait and send a private Gift Reveal link with your own note |
What it costs
Previews are free: you get three watermarked previews in total per email and device, which is enough to compare a couple of Christmas styles. Unlocking one portrait is $3.99, or $12.99 for a 5-pack if you are making cards with more than one pet. The card download itself adds nothing. Printing costs whatever your lab or printer charges.
Leave time for printing
The file is ready the moment you press the button, but printed cards still need production and postage. Order them early in December rather than the week before Christmas, and if you are short on time, a digital card or a Gift Reveal link can go out the same evening.
PetMona turns a clear pet photo into wall-ready art — ship an 8×10″ print or unlock HD to gift yourself. Free preview, no subscription.
Make a Christmas card from your pet’s portrait
- Create and unlock the portrait. Upload a clear photo of your pet, pick a style and check the free watermarked preview. Unlock it once the face and markings look right.
- Open “Add a dedication”. On the unlocked portrait page, open the “Add a dedication” section below the Download HD button.
- Choose Winter card. Under Seasonal cards, tap Winter card. Your browser downloads a 5×7 PNG at 1500×2100 pixels.
- Print or send it. Upload the file to a photo lab or card printer as a 5×7 flat card, print it at home on card stock, or send it digitally.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Christmas card cost extra?
No. The Winter card is one of the tools on an unlocked portrait. You pay only to unlock the portrait itself ($3.99, or one credit from a 5-pack); downloading the card after that is free, and you can download it as often as you like.
Why can’t I see the Winter card button?
The seasonal card buttons are calendar-gated. The Winter card shows from November 1 to December 31, and a Valentine card replaces it in January and February. The buttons also only appear on an unlocked portrait, inside the “Add a dedication” section.
Will PetMona print and post the cards for me?
No. The card is a downloadable file. Print it at home, at a photo lab or with any online card printer that accepts a 5×7 upload, or send the file digitally. PetMona’s own printed products are the 8×10 print and the 12×16 framed portrait.
